Listings are Increasing Post RWC

Listings in Wellington are increasing very quickly since the Rugby World Cup has finished. Our data shows that increase is mostly in the inner city and the suburbs seem unaffected. This is despite a lack of building in Wellington, although the number of apartments coming available in the last 3 years has increased vacancy rates significantly.

Listings fell during July to October from a historically high level of 1700 to almost reach the 2009 levels when they got down below 1400. The sharp increase during October up to 1500 is mostly within the "Lambton and surrounding suburbs" category and the remainder is within the Wellington City boundary, with no impact from the Hutt, Kapiti or Porirua.
